Planning an Eco-Friendly Wedding

Eco Friendly Wedding

Did you know that the average American wedding of 150 guests produces approximately 500 pounds of waste? At Amethyst Event Productions, we have a passion for incorporating sustainability into weddings. We accomplish this by minimizing waste and using sustainable products for a truly eco-friendly wedding.

Because sustainability is important to us, we have a package option for our clients to create an eco-friendly wedding. Moreover, the package also works to create fully vegan weddings without compromising the overall design. In addition, it provides a curated partner list, like vendors who specialize in zero waste, for a truly mindful event. We even provide a dedicated sustainability meeting. The meeting helps to work through the different options you have to incorporate eco-friendly options into your design. Here are a few common steps you can take to incorporate sustainability into your wedding day!

Wedding Invitations

Consider printing your wedding suite on recycled paper if you’d like to go the more traditional route of physical invitations. Another sustainable option would be to use a website like Paperless Post to send beautiful invitations. This option also keeps track of your RSVP’s digitally.

Biodegradable Confetti

Confetti is often incorporated in post-ceremony celebrations or in the bride and groom’s sendoff. So, a great suggestion would be to use biodegradable confetti. It’s a cute and fun way to add an eco-friendly flair to your wedding day. You can place these on your ceremony chairs or give them to your guests to use in your end-of-the-night send off.

Floral Design and Flower Donations

Flowers are usually one of the biggest ways to incorporate sustainability into your wedding. We always recommend speaking to your florist about ways to keep your wedding sustainable. Your florist can work with local flower farms and produce arrangements without foam. In addition, flowers are also one of the biggest expenses for a wedding day. Donating your centerpieces can be a wonderful eco-friendly way of recycling your flowers. Many florists work with nursing homes or children’s hospitals to donate the flowers and make someone’s day a little brighter. Be sure to ask your florist if they partner with any organizations for floral donation.

Eco-Friendly Wedding Favors

Who doesn’t love wedding favors that you can use over and over again? Reusable bamboo straws are a great alternative to single-use plastic straws. They are eco-friendly, affordable, stylish, and a perfect addition to your wedding drinks and decor. Bamboo straws are 100% natural, can be reused hundreds of times, and composted at the end of their lifespan. Also, they are able to be custom engraved with your initials or unique wedding hashtag. This is a little something your guests and Mother Earth can appreciate.

Share Your Values

We firmly believe that your wedding should be a reflection of who you are as a couple. For instance, to incorporate sustainable values in your wedding, we suggest signage that you can place on your welcome table or the bar. This will let your closest friends and family know how important these values are to you. It may event cause them to make small changes in their lives as well.
